Ra were retained at inception to deliver a scheme of 40 apartments with undercroft parking on a restricted City Centre site. The regular geometry and open location allowed all 4 elevations to have habitable rooms, the brief called for the most efficient layout possible and a minimum number of parking spaces, to be delivered within a tight construction programme.
RA designed, obtained detailed planning consent, provided all pre and post tender construction support to assist in an on programme and on budget scheme that maximised the potential of a single stair building to ensure the most efficient communal and circulation space. The Facing brickwork solution over a modular steel substructure is a blend of full depth brickwork and slips to achieve a relief to the façade.
The detailing was such that, when the building was latterly opened up by EWS surveyors at the request of a potential purchaser, the building was proven to exceed the prevalent building regulations.
