Choosing an architect

There are many ways to choose an architect. You may have driven past a new home or extension and thought, I like the look of that. Recommendation is another good way to choose: if someone’s worked well for a friend, chances are they can work well for you. Or your surveyor or estate agent may be able to put you in touch.

It’s always a good idea to speak to two or three different firms before making your final choice. Ask to speak to a couple of their clients, too. If we wanted to engage a professional, we’d do the same.

So don’t be shy about setting up initial meetings with several practices. They shouldn’t charge you for this.
