The student housing sector is attracting interest from Housing Associations, Investments funds and land owners alike. While the pressure on University funding and the increases in tuition fees are well documented, student numbers are increasing and the number of institutions is also expanding. Primary debt funding proves difficult without the comfort of a lease agreement with Universities, so the provision of student housing falls to the private sector. ARA is appraising sites in Coventry, Plymouth and Cardiff, building relationships with equity funds and student housing specialists to bring sites forward for development.
